Hér gefur að líta landslag málað á við sem síðan er umbreytt í húsgögn. Innsetningin er svo fullkomnuð með hljóðheimi sem er sérstaklega hugsaður og saminn fyrir sýninguna. Samstarfsverkefni finnska húsgagnamerkisins Choice, landslagsarkitektsins og listamannsins Lotta Jalava og finnska tónlistarmannsins Mikko Pykäri.
The Finnish design brand Choice delivers the furnitures in the installation. Choice works under the the headline: Visionary nordic design & tailored furniture production. They wish is to bring product creation closer to people. Their carefully selected designs are only made in small batches, so they in cooporation with the user can improve them one choice at a time.
The furniture is decorated by the Finnish artist and landscape architect Lotta Jalava. Lotta has studied landscape architecture at the Aalto Univeristy of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki and works among others freelance as a landscape architect in the company MASU Planning.
To accompany the furniture the Finnish pop musician Mikko Pykäri will be making music for the installation.
Lokal is a concept store and home to independent Finnish art, design and craft. Besides the unique art pieces in the gallery space, there is a wide array of selected products from some of the leading names in ceramics, furniture, art prints and kitchen ware. There is a strong emphasis on the timeless value of handmade items, craftsmanship and small scale production. The themed group exhibitions change every 1-2 months.
Lokal is run by photographer Katja Hagelstam. Inspired to create a space where to showcase the works of Finnish artists and designers, she opened Lokal in April 2012. It has been growing and changing ever since, showing a mix of recognized and up-and-coming artists. Lokal is also a Helsinki retailer of highly acclaimed Fiskars-based furniture brand Nikari.
A stretchy RAGAMUF chair rug is a chair cover, which fits to different shapes and sizes of chairs. It is made my hand from knitted rag, which is produced from textile surplus of the textile industry.
Every RAGAMUF chair rug is unique. Each chair rug is a piece of art – a maker designs her own rug by choosing it’s colors and shapes. This way work becomes remarkable to her and each rug is a personal Homemade Homemate.
We employ Syrian refugee women near the Syrian border in Turkey. We hire women without a livelihood to enable them to live fulfilling, independent lives.
