BIRDS – summer exhibition for children
The summer exhibition at the Nordic House Children’s Library is based on the book Birds by Hjörleifur Hjartarson and Rán Flygenring. The exhibition will highlight thirteen birds that have a home or have stopped by in Vatnsmýrin outside the Nordic House – which is also a bird conservation area. Interactive educational material related to birds will be available at the exhibition, and workshops and storytimes will also be organized during the exhibition.
,,The book highlights the main characteristics of birds in language and images, without taking itself too seriously, and the result is a unique and unusual, but at the same time informative book about Icelandic birds. “
The book was published in 2017 by Angustúra. It has received the Reykjavík Children’s Book Award in the category of illustrations and the FÍT Award for illustrations, as well as being nominated for the Icelandic Literature Award.
Preschool, school, and after-school groups can book a free guided tour with an educational representative by sending a request to hrafnhildur@nordichouse.is.
