How do I turn memories into living stories and poems?

Creative writing for multilingual people and those who are learning Icelandic. A three-hour course with Maó Alheimsdóttir. The course is held during the Nordic Literature week and on the Icelandic language day. We celebrate language and diversity by offering workshop by the talented author and artist.

Maó Alheimsdóttir writes in Icelandic, although her mother tongue is Polish. Maó is the author of the novel “Veðurfregnir og jarðarfarir”, the script of won the Center for Icelandic Literature’s Nýræktarstyrkur grant. More works by Mao appeared in Tímarit Máls og Menningar magazine, Ljóðabréf Tunglsins poetry collection and Polyphony of foreign origin. Maó also makes performances and sound works. She is the chairman of “Ós Pressan”, an association of writers and poets in Reykjavík.

The course is free of charge and everyone is welcome above 12  years old. Registration can be obtained by sending an email to hrafnhildur@nordichouse.is.

Opening hours and accessibility: The Children’s Library is open for all. Accessible for wheelchair users via the elevator and through Hvelfing exhibition space. Accessible restrooms and a restroom for families with babies is on the main floor. Opening hours are TUE-SUN 10 am-17 pm. Entrance to the library and all events is free of charge.
