Meet the Author Pivinnguaq Mørch

Meet the Author Pivinnguaq Mørch at the Nordic House, Wednesday, May 8th 2019 at 19.30

Pivinnguaq Mørch (1993) is one of the new young Greenlandic writers who is really being noticed in the Greenlandic literary world with well-written, thought-provoking and critical books. He leads the readers into a world of which we so far only have seen very little. Mørch is an arctic tourist guide and is now studying cultural and social history at the University of Greenland.

Mørch debuted with his first independent work, the short story and poetry collection Arpaatit qaqortut / The White Running Shoes (2015), which deals with existential themes about life in general and everyday life and the challenges we face. Through the short stories and poems, an adult man’s life is described with running – running for life, the strength and weakness of the body. It reflects on the small and big moments of everyday life and what we do to each other through life. The work is nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2019. Mørch was one of several winners at a writing competition in 2013, which led to the publication of the anthology Ung i Grønland – young in the world. The same year he won a poetry slam competition in Nuuk.

The event begins at 19.30, and everyone is welcome while there is room. The conversation, led by Julia Isaksen will be in English and Greenlandish. Free entrance.

AALTO Bistro in the Nordic House is open for dinner guests before the event and offers a delicious dinner menu and light meals, all made with first-class ingredients. During the break, it is possible to enjoy light refreshments from AALTO Bistro.

Welcome!
