The European Commission awarded Oslo the prestigious European Green Capital title for 2019. In an open meeting at the Nordic House on Monday 3rd of December 10 am, representatives from Oslo and Reykjavik City Council will discuss transition to greener transport solution in urban areas.

The seminar is organized by the Norwegian Embassy in collaboration with the City of Reykjavik. Coffee, tea and kleinur are served from 9:30 am.

10:10: Oslo’s experience with electric cars and public transportation
Peter N. Myhre is a member of the City Council in Oslo. Myhre was the Mayor from 1990-91 and the Vice-Mayor for Environment and Transport from 2003-2009. Oslo and Norway as a whole has experienced a massive increase in electric cars. How is this shaping the city? Public transportation in Oslo has grown to be a favoured means of transportation amongst its inhabitants. How did this happen?

10:30: Planning transportation in the growing city of Reykjavik

Sigurborg Ósk Haraldsdóttir is the head of the Planning and Transportation Committee in the City Council in Reykjavík. She will discuss the past and future in planning transportation in a growing city, both concerning cars, bicycles and walking areas as well as public transportation.
