Eight Projects To Think About Non-Human Worlds: A Conversation Between Design Practitioners Who Use Objects As Tools Of Investigation.
Designers Johanna Seelemann and Fiona Raby are brought together through Forecast’s mentorship program, participating in the ninth edition of the Berlin-led live arts platform. Under a broader theme called Paradoxical Imaginings — Ideas and Objects, they explore more-than-human perspectives, with a focus on ecologies, farming practices and soils.
In the first week of November, they are in Iceland for a study trip hosted by Nordic House, where they will have the opportunity to meet local designers, artists, climate scientists, to visit farms, extraordinary landscapes and geological phenomena. This offers a chance to spend time thinking and discussing together.
For this event they would like to open up their ongoing conversation for an audience. As two designers from different generations, they will explore interrelated ideas, both using design objects as tools of investigation.
Forecast is a platform dedicated to the support, mentoring, and promotion of trailblazing creative practices and audacious artists. Founded in 2015 by Artistic Director Freo Majer, Forecast encompasses the one-on-one mentorship program Forecast Mentorships; the workshop series Forecast Condensed; and is the initiator of collaborative projects with multiple institutional partners, such as Driving the Human (2020–2023) and Housing the Human (2018–2019).
Accessibility: for wheelchairs in Elissa is good, there is a small threshold into the auditorium. Accessible and gender-neutral restrooms are on the same floor. This event will be held in English.
