Chef Arnór Ingi Bjarkason, together with his brother Sigurður Björn and their parents, Laufey and Bjarki, will open a new restaurant at the Nordic House in September.
The restaurant, named Laut, takes its name from the Icelandic word for a sheltered hollow in the landscape – a place to pause, gather, and enjoy the surroundings. Laut will offer a diverse dining experience, ranging from light lunches and a relaxed café atmosphere during the day to ambitious multi-course tasting menus in the evening.
Arnór Ingi is the owner and head chef of the Michelin Guide-listed restaurant Skóg in Vilnius. He previously led the kitchen at Red Brick, where the restaurant was awarded the prestigious Michelin Green Star for sustainability. Skóg will continue operating in full alongside the new venture in Iceland. Inspired by Icelandic nature, Laut places a strong emphasis on local ingredients and a sustainable approach to cooking.
The menu will primarily feature Icelandic produce, complemented by carefully selected ingredients from across the Nordic region when appropriate. During the day, guests can enjoy a daily lunch special, light meals, and coffee, while evenings will focus on a multi-course tasting menu celebrating Icelandic and Nordic culinary traditions.
