MEET THE AUTHOR: Satu Rämö

We are proud to present a Nordic Noir night in Elissa (the Nordic House Auditorium). Meet Satu Rämö in conversation with Lilja Sigurðardóttir, as they unfold Satu’s authorship and literary work. This conversation will be in Icelandic. 

Satu Rämö was born in Finland in 1980 and moved to Iceland over two decades ago as an economics exchange student. Instead of macroeconomics she ended up studying Icelandic culture, literature and mythology before forging a successful career as a writer, digital creator and a mentor. She has published numerous bestselling, prize winning non-fiction titles in Finland, ranging from travel guides to Iceland, to inspirational memoirs and an Icelandic knitting book. Satu lives with her family in the small town of Ísafjörður in northwest Iceland. HILDUR was her fiction debut, quickly followed by RÓSA & BJÖRK, which was published in Finland in spring 2023, followed by JAKOB, in November 2023. The publishing rights to the HILDUR-trilogy has already been sold to several territories including Germany, The Netherlands, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Estonia and Latvia. In Germany HILDUR has been on the Der Spiegel Bestsellerlisten for over two months since publication.

The conversation with Satu Rämö will be hosted by Lilja Sigurðardóttir. An Icelandic crime-writer born in 1972, who hardly needs an introduction. She is the author of novels, stage plays, audio series and screenplays, and her authorship has received many prestigious awards. Satu and Lilja have many things in common, but interestingly both their Icelandic Noir trilogies are coming to the TV-screens, as Lilja’s Reykjavík Noir Trilogy (Snare, Trap and Cage) and Satu’s Hildur trilogy both will be filmed in Iceland in 2024.

Meet-the-author is a recurring literature series hosted by the Nordic House, where one or several authors, in conversation with a literary expert in a Scandinavian language, unfold their authorship and literary work. The audience is welcome to ask questions at the end of the talks.
