Mýrin International Children’s Literature Festival 2018 ends on Sunday the 14th of October. The day is dedicated to the guests of honor, live music, exhibitions and a workshop in space

The theme for the festival is the Nordic. The Nordic House is thereby a fitting venue where children, parents and teachers can indulge themselves in literature in inspiring surroundings. The festivals ends with relaxed sunday athmosphere, where among other, Ragnheiður Gröndal and Guðmundur Pétursson perform music to the poetry of Þórarinn Eldjárn. Throughout the day you can exploreour current exhibition ‘Animals No-one has seen except us’ or take a stroll down in our Children’s Book Exhibition. Everyone is welcome and admission is free of charge.

Guest of Honor

An honorary programme dedicated to Sigrún Eldjárn and Þórarinn Eldjárn. The siblings have both devoted their lives to writing and illustrating children’s books. Literary scholar Margrét Tryggvadóttir holds a conversation with Sigrún and Þórarinn, accompanied by Aðalsteinn Ásberg Sigurðsson, poet, author and musician, and Áslaug Jónsdóttir, illustrator and author.

A workshop in space

CREATE NEW CONSTELLATIONS in a workshop starring Sævar Helgi Bragason. Everywhere in the world, stories have been spun around the patterns that people saw while looking at the stars. In this workshop, we make up our own stories around the constellations that we create.
