We pay the Artists

Welcome to the „We pay the Artists“ campaign meeting of SÍM – The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists

Friday 20 November 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The purpose of the campaign “We pay the Artists” is to promote and strengthen the career of artists to and improve the working conditions and status of artists in society today.

The hub of the campaign is to promote agreement on the participation and contribution of artists for presentations in public art museum funded by the public sector, in part or in whole.

SÍM has launched a petition to protest the financial cuts of The Visual Art Fund and The Public Buildins Art Fund – funds that are extremely important for the work of artists and art historians.

SÍM challenged the Parliament to show optimism and vision by supporting this important funds and provide 52 million to The Visual Art Fund and 10 million to The Public Buildins Art Fund, in 2016.

You can participate and sign the petition until November 20th at 12:00.

Jóna Hlíf Halldórsdóttir, the chairman of SIM, will deliver the list of signatures to Vigdis Hauksdóttir, chairman of the Budget Committee, during the meeting.

16:40 Jóna Hlíf Halldórsdóttir, chairman of SIM, delivers the the list of signatures to
Vigdis Hauksdóttir, the chariman of the Budget Committee.
