Varberg´s Chamber Choir – Free entrance

Varberg´s Chamber Choir, concert at The Nordic House Thursday night at 20:00

Varberg’s Chamber Choir was founded in 1976. The choir presents a variety of genres of music – derived from many different musical eras. Mainly the choir performs a capella but it also collaborates with different orchestras, ensembles and musicians. During the last years the choir has performed the B minor Mass by J S Bach together with the specialized baroque ensemble ”Drottningholms barockensemble” and also collaborated with instrumentalists from as well classical music as jazz. The choir also premiered contemporary choral music.

This year the choir will perform within a number of chamber music recitals, perform Mozart’s Requiem and, in the beginning of January 2018, the Christmas Oratorio by J S Bach. The Mozart and Bach works will be performed together with ”Gothenburg Baroque”.

At present the choir has two conductors (both of them will participate in the concert): Gunno Palmquist (Professor of Choral Conducting at the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg) and Johannes Landgren (Pro-Dean as well as Professor of Organ and Improvisation at the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg).
