Join Us for an Afternoon of Music and Art at the Nordic House – Reykjavík Culture Night 2025 !

In celebration of Reykjavík Culture Night 2025, the Nordic House warmly welcomes everyone to an inspiring afternoon filled with music, storytelling, and creativity.

Throughout the day, a variety of events will take place:

11:00 – 12:00: Elissa:
Icelandic and Norwegian folk dances – Danslög Jónasar
How did people entertain themselves in the 19th century? – How did they dance and what did the music sound like?
The event is open to everyone, regardless of age or previous occupation. Whether you are a dancer and music lover or just curious. Come and learn about Danslög Jónasar (Jónas´s dance songs)

13:00 – 14:00 : Children’s Library: The festivities begin with a Story Hour in the Children’s Library, where author Rán Flygenring will read from her book Birds.

14:00 – 15:00 : Children’s Library:  Story hour in Swedish 

14:00 – 16:00 : Children’s Library: Children can take part in a drop-in craft workshop led by artist Estelle Pollaert, creating bird-themed crafts.

15:00 – 16:00 : Hvelfing Exhibition space: Sabina Westerholm, Director of the Nordic House and curator of our current exhibition Time After Time, will offer a guided tour in English. 

16:00 – 17:00 : Library: (for adults) 
We’re excited to present our first-ever “Drink and Draw” at the Nordic House. In collaboration with artist, writer, and drag queen Sindri Sparkle Freyr, this colourful and creative workshop invites you to sip cocktails or mocktails and sketch in a fun, relaxed setting.

17:00 – 18:00 : Elissa: We’ll close the day with a live jazz concert by the Faroese band Frítt Fall!
