On Saturday, the 6th of September, the Nordic House invites you to the fourth edition of PØLSE&POESI – an afternoon of poetry readings, good food, and drinks.

The theme of this edition is “West Nordic Voices”, with poets representing Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
During PØLSE&POESI, we serve free sausages, condiments, and drinks from different Nordic countries, showcasing Nordic “sausage culture” in its variety. There will also be vegetarian options.

Performing poets are:

Nansý Sunadóttir (FO) debuted in 2024 with the poetry collection “eg hvessi mær knívin, eg komi heim” (I’m sharpening the knife, I’m coming home). Sunadóttirs poems deals with topics such as gender and self-harm. The knife is the main image and the poet aspires to write about self-harm in a way not seen before in Faroese literature – with beauty. Where is the beauty in cuts on the poetic self’s thighs and wrists? The beauty is in the words that finally are released. The poems are a quiet yet stubborn protest. Though the poetic self feels broken and alone, there is still hope.

Miki Klamer (GL/DK) is born in Nuuk but moved to Denmark when he was a child. His background has meant a great deal to both his personal life and his poetry, and he is often drawn to people who – like himself – have struggled to find a sense of belonging. It is in meeting these people and hearing their stories that he finds inspiration for his poetry. Today, he is a father with shared custody (7/7 arrangement) and works full-time, but he is still searching for his place in the world.

Brynja Hjálmsdóttir (IS) is a poet and author from Iceland. Her poetry, composed of surrealist imagery and rhythmic language, addresses diverse subjects and often draws from the absurd and grotesque. She has received multiple awards and nominations for her work, and has been described by critics as “One of Iceland’s finest young writers”. Brynja was the 2022 recipient of the Ljóðstafur Jóns úr Vör poetry prize, and of the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Encouragement Award.

Alberte Parnuuna (GL) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans film, visual art, animation, and writing. Her artistic practice has been presented in exhibitions and events in both Greenland and internationally, gaining growing recognition. AP’s poetry balances the surreal and the intimate, where repetition, bilingual echoes and fragmented images reveal traces of trauma, longing and identity. This event marks her first public reading.

Participation as well as food and drinks is FREE.
