Born in Iceland and based in Sweden, Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir is a violinist and composer whose music making is driven by an ecosystemic outlook and an interest in the more-than-human world. Critics have hailed her work as a “hymn to the natural world,” with sound that is “riveting and wondrous” (VAN magazine), “music of great poetry” (ComposHer), and even “the Ginnungagap out of which all music springs” (Fréttablaðið). Stefándsdóttir has forged collaborative relationships with composers, visual artists, and producers.
