Saturday October 14: Workshops for Families

10:00 – 10:45 – UNDERSEA RELAXATION WITH EVA RÚN (IS)
For children 8-12 years old and their parents. Eva Rún Þorgeirsdóttir, the author of the book about the Shell Monsters, leads relaxation in the children’s library’s underwater cave. In Icelandic.
Location: Children’s library, Nordic House.

10:00 – 10:45 – WHALE WORKSHOP WITH JENNI DESMOND (UK)
For 3-7 years old and their parents. Here the participants learn about Jenni’s story about the blue whale and create their own whale. The workshop takes place in Icelandic and English.
Location: Auditorium, Nordic House.

11:00 – 11:45 – GUIDED TOUR OF THE UNDERSEAS EXHIBITION
All ages. Guided tour of the Underseas Exhibition. Erling Kjærbo and Hrafnhildur Gissurardóttir guide guests through the wonders of the sea.
Location: Children’s library, Nordic House.

11:00 – 11:45 – WATERSLIDE WORKSHOP WITH NICK WHITE (UK)
For 8-12 year old. Design your own water slide using scissors, glue and paper in any color. Let your imagination run wild! What water slide have you always wanted to seecome to life? The workshop takes place in Icelandic and English.
Location: Auditorium, Nordic House.

13:00 – 13:45 – MERMAID WORKSHOP WITH JESSICA LOVE (US)
All ages. Design your own mermaid costume! What are the characteristics of mermaids? How do they dress and prepare for a ball? Here you can find out everything you always wanted to know about mermaids and at the same time create your own mermaid. The workshop takes place in Icelandic and English.
Location: Auditorium, Nordic House.

14:00 – 14:45 – UNDERSEAS BALL!
All ages. We finish the festival with a ball in the underseas cave of the children’s library. DJ Lóa of FM Belfast, confetti and party! AND even more fun if you show up in a mermaid or sea animal costume.
Location: Elissa Auditorium, Nordic House.

 

Accessibility: The Auditorium and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible. The children’s library is accessible for wheelchairs via the Hvelfing exhibition hall and the library personel can be of asstance if needed. All restrooms are gender neutral.
