Sóley Ólafsdóttir will host a movement workshop for children aged 6–9 in connection with our new exhibition Bodies and Buildings. Sóley is a dance artist with extensive teaching experience; she has conducted creative workshops for children and toured the country with Kanlínudans—a dance piece for children created by her and choreographer Leevi Mettinen.
.
The workshop will begin with games and exercises in the auditorium, where participants will connect with the space and architecture through playful movement. Sóley will teach a short dance inspired by the book Crane’s Map – Adventures in the Wavy Forest. The story follows the characters Rabbit and Bear as they follow a map, discovering shapes and designs inspired by the work of Alvar Aalto along the way. The session will then move to the children’s library for an exploratory journey through the new exhibition, using movement to engage with the space.
.
The movement workshop will take place in Icelandic and English.
