Classics in the Moorland – An evening with Strauss

Egill Árni Pálsson, tenor
Kristinn Örn Kristinsson, pianist

On the program are two song cycles by Richard Strauss, Op. 10 and Op. 19. His cycles are generally not in narrative form and they are rarely performed as a whole, but many have interesting stories behind them which give insight into the composer´s life and work. These two cycles contain some of the composer´s most celebrated songs.

Egill Árni Pálsson studied at the Singing School in Reykjavik and attended private lessons in New York. After graduation, he moved to Berlin to study and work. He won prizes in the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and Oper Schloss Laubach competitions, performed at the Classic Open Air Festival in Berlin and in Das Lied von Der Erde in Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam with the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt. Egill performs regularly in opera projects, church concerts and Lied recitals in Iceland and abroad. He teaches at the Singing School in Reykjavik and in 2016 he released the album “Pipeline” a collection of Icelandic songs.
