Hyggestund – Colorful felt Insects
Everyone is welcome to a workshop in connection with the Children’s Library’s summer exhibition: The Secret Life of Insects, with textile designer Álfrún Pálmadóttir.
The summer exhibition explores the hidden worlds of insects in the Nordic countries, and in the workshop you will be able to make your own insects from colorful felt! You can use googly eyes and colorful wires to add character to them and choose if you take them home or decorate a tent that is located in the middle of the children’s library.
Álfrún Pálmadóttir is head teacher of the textile department at the Reykjavík School of Fine Arts and works in industrial knitting at the Varma factory. She has a diploma in textiles from the Reykjavík School of Fine Arts, a bachelor’s degree in ethnology from the University of Iceland, and a master’s degree in knitting from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.
The workshop is for free and everyone is welcome!
