A warm welcome to an author´s evening at the Nordic House.
Swedish author Alex Schulman is visiting Iceland to discuss his latest book, A Day in June (original Swedish title: 17 juni), which has just been published here in Iceland. Sunna Dís Másdóttir translated the book into Icelandic and will be leading the conversation with the author.
Alex Schulman began his career as a blogger and journalist but is today one of Sweden’s most popular authors. Simultaneously, he co-hosts one of Sweden’s most successful podcasts, Alex & Sigges podcast.
About the book:
Vidar is a teacher who has reached a dead end in life. Suspended from work following allegations of professional misconduct, he spends his days in isolation. When he comes across an old phone number that used to belong to his family’s summer cabin, he decides to call it—and his long-deceased father answers from a day in the past.
A Day in June is an incredibly powerful and gripping story about the formative experiences of childhood—a poignant narrative of trauma and emotional neglect. Alex Schulman’s stories about children and broken families have reached audiences far and wide. His novel The Survivors (Eftirlifendurnir) was published in Icelandic in 2021.
Free admission and open to everyone.
