Ann-Christin Kongsness (she/her) is a Norwegian dancer, choreographer, writer, teacher and drag king based in Oslo. Her work manifests as performances, workshops, lectures, conversations, drag shows, texts and publications. She is also the editor for the anthology CHOREOGRAPHY, which has been published in three editions. In recent years her work has gained a more explicit queer perspective. She and colleague Marte Sterud arranged the conversation series Queer Dance Art at Oslo Pride in 2018, where they were leading conversations with sixteen different dancers and choreographers who in different ways are dealing with questions regarding gender and sexuality in their artistic work.
She is also a founding member of the drag king collective Gutta since 2019; they have been performing extensively in all kinds of queer, feminist, political and artistic contexts ever since. She is currently working on the performance series Butch Tribute which premiered in 2021 and has toured throughout Norway, where she and Marte Sterud are celebrating queer, female masculinity through diversifying the representation of butches.
In this Shoptalk she will share experiences and discoveries from her work with the drag king collective Gutta and the performance series Butch Tribute, both of which will perform at Reykjavik Dance Festival this year.
The event is in collaboration with Reykjavik Dance Festival 2024.
