The band Skuggamyndir frá Býsans (Byzantine Silhouette) was formed in 2010 and they play a mix of music from the Balkans. This music is characterised by complicated rhythms, mysticism, and passion. The band has released two CDs and one DVD, and all of them have received praise from the critics. The album Night Without Moon was nominated for the Icelandic Music Prize in 2014. Members of the Byzantine Silhouette include Haukur Gröndal on clarinet, Ásgeir Ásgeirsson on tamboura, bouzouki and saz baglama, Erik Qvick on percussion, and Þorgrímur Jónsson on double-bass
Nordic House Concert Series is presented for the first time this summer! The concert series consist of the best of Icelandic jazz and folk music, with some Latin and Balkan influences, as well as one guest from Sweden. We promise you evenings of great music and excellent musicians, sharing with the guests moods ranging from the melancholic and gentle to the passionate and up-beat.
All concerts start at 20:00, on Wednesdays, from the 14th of June to the the 30th of August.
