About the Festival
Mýrin is an international children’s literature festival that has been held biannually at the Nordic House since 2001. Between 14-16 October 2021, the festival will take place for the tenth time and the program will consist of a variety of events for children, young people and everyone interested in children’s literature.
The festival invites authors, illustrators and scholars from Iceland, the Nordic countries and other parts of the world, who present their work in readings, workshops, lectures, panel discussions, interviews and exhibitions.
The festival has strong ties to the Nordic literary community and its main goal is to promote the joy of reading among children of all ages.
The festival board is made up of representatives from The Nordic House, Reykjavík City Library, The Writer’s Union of Iceland, SÍUNG (the Association of Children’s Writers in Iceland), IBBY Iceland and The University of Iceland. Mýrin offers events for children, teenagers and families as well as academics, librarians, teachers and other professionals within the field of children’s literature and everyone interested in children´s literature.
