Workshop during winter break
9:30-11:30
Children ages 8-10 are welcome to sign up for a two-day workshop at the Nordic house.
The workshop draws focus from two new exhibitions at the house: Ripples and The North. The themes of the exhibitions are the effect of climate change and the future of glaciers, with four artists from Iceland, Greenland, Finland and a Sami artist. Children will learn about the artwork as well as getting an insight into different cultures and the effect of the changing climate it has on them, through art and creative exercises.
Material and methods within the theme, cover a wide range. Students will make gel prints, use ink and practice stitching on top of a printed canvas.
They will also try out all the new creative projects that have been created in connection to each artist, for example cloud making and making glaciers from cardboard.
The workshop is for free but registration with name, age and phone number of a parent or caretaker can be sent to hrafnhildur@nordichouse.is
Age group: 8-10 years
ACCESSIBILITY: Elissa auditorium has good accessibility and the Children’s Library is accessible for wheelchairs through the exhibition hall Hvelfing. Library staff can give guidance. Restrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender-neutral.
