Traveling SUN from Norway to Iceland
For those of us living in the north, the sun or lack of it, has an immense impact on our lives. Our aim with our art project is to bring light to dark places in the north, during the long winter months. We wanted to meet people and share with the rest of the world via social media, the beauty of the unspoiled nature that is to be found in all of the Nordic countries.
Artists Christine Istad and Lisa Pacini drove the SUN from Oslo to Tromsø in 2012. The SUN is a large light sculpture that transforms through a variety of warm colors. Taking the ‘SUN’ on a road trip was an essential part of the work. By documenting the trip on our blog, we allow viewers to share the trip with us. After an extensive travel up and down the cost of Norway, it went to Bergen, Rjukan, The UK and Hennie Onstad Art Center.
Traveling SUN will travel in Iceland before setting on the Nordic House.
The Sun will be Opening on Friday evening at 20:00 16th of October 2015.
