The whole family is welcome to a Swedish Story Hour!

10:30 - 11:00
Children's Library

In celebration of Pippi Longstocking’s 80th anniversary, an exhibition called Pippi, Democracy and the Voices of Children! is showing at the Nordic House Children’s Library, offering an insight into the adventurous world of one of the most beloved characters in children’s literature.

Each storyteller chooses a Pippi Longstocking story that they connect with, and some of them incorporate music into the storytelling session. Through the reading, an attempt is made to lead the children on an imaginative journey where they can experience the freedom and independence of the unique Pippi Longstocking.

The reading takes place in the Children´s Library where the exhibition Pippi, Democracy and the Voices of Children! can be found.

After a short reading, guests are encouraged to stay and enjoy what the library has to offer. Interactive games are available for all in connection to the exhibition Pippi, Democracy and the Voices of Children!   Craft paper, colors and scissors can be obtained at the library’s reception desk. Those who create their own Pippi drawing or their own Pippi artwork can hang it in special frames at the exhibition.

A small corner of the library is still dedicated to The Nordic Bookworm. There you can find Nordic books and illustrations from selected picture books. The Nordic Bookworm is a database with educational materials in Nordic languages, related to picture books that have been nominated for the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize. The database is free and accessible on  bokslukaren.org.
