Organic Day will be celebrated at the Nordic House on Saturday, September 20.

Organic farmers and producers will be on site with a wide variety of organic food and beauty products – which visitors can taste, try, and buy. Events connected to the Organic Day will also take place across the country. Information about these events can be found on the Facebook page Lífrænt Ísland.

Program at the Nordic House:

  • 10:00–14:30 – Organic market

  • 10:00–11:00 – Children’s program in the greenhouse

  • 11:00–12:00 – Lecture on organic farming in the greenhouse

  • 13:00 – Official opening of Organic Day:

    Elínborg Erla Ásgeirsdóttir, chair of VOR, and Anna María Björnsdóttir, project manager of Organic Day, give speeches.

  • 14:30 – Organic market closes

  • 15:30 – Screening of the documentary GRÓA in the hall (subject to availability of seats).

    GRÓA is about organic farming in Iceland.

  • 17:00–17:30 – Questions and discussion about the film

Plantan Bistro will offer a special Icelandic organic dish on the menu to mark the day.

Children’s program:

10:00–11:00: In the greenhouse, Anna María Björnsdóttir, project manager of Organic Day, will host light activities for children. These include coloring, organic bingo, and compost-making games. Children can also plant seeds in a pot to take home.

Anna María is a project manager at Lífrænt Ísland, as well as a filmmaker and musician.
