Reykjavík Literature Festival: Events on April 25th

The Reykjavík International Literature Festival has been operating since 1985. This pleasant festival is a meeting place for readers and authors and a lively forum for discussions about literature, fiction, social issues and much more, because literature touches many people and the topics covered are countless.

Admission to the events is free and they are open to everyone. Conversations are held in English, but readings are in the authors’ native language.

Speakers: ANNETTE BJERGFELDT OG EINAR LÖVDAH

Annette Bjergfeldt is a Danish singer, songwriter, pianist and author who has attracted much attention for her lively and captivating novels. She has also won numerous awards for her music and has been nominated for a Grammy Award. The book Mr. Saito’s Travelogue was on Politiken’s list of the best books of the year when it was published.

Einar Lövdahl is a writer and musician. He has released the solo album Tímar án ráða and the album Nætur with the duo LØV & LJÓN, which he forms with Agil Jónsson. All lyrics for both works were by Einar, and he has also written lyrics for other performers, such as Julian Civilian (Skúla Jónsson), Jóhanna Guðrúna, Jón Jónsson and GDRN. His novel Gegnumtrekkur was published in the spring of 2024 and translation rights have been sold to Hungary and Switzerland.

The discussions are chaired by Arnar Eggert Thorodssen.

Erika Fatland is a Norwegian anthropologist who enjoys great popularity for her non-fiction works. She has written seven books that have won numerous awards and have been translated into more than twenty languages. She first gained attention in 2015 with the book Sovetistan, where she recounts her travels through the former Soviet republics that have the suffix -stan. In her 2021 book The Border, she describes her travels around Russia, visiting all the countries that share a border with Russia. In Heights, she tells the stories of people and communities in the Himalayan mountains. Her latest book, The Navigators, is a travelogue about the countries that were once part of the fallen Portuguese empire. Erika Fatland is among the most popular non-fiction authors in Norway.

Accessibility in Elissa auditorium is good, there is a low threshold into the hall. On the same floor is a toilet with good access and changing facilities.
