Mýrin literature festival; 18. October – workshops

Introducing Mýrin, an international children’s and youth literature festival;

Lost in the Moorland!

Is children’s literature lost or are they the guiding light of a changing world? Eighteen foreign and domestic illustrators and experts in children’s literature take part in a three day program.

Free entry to all the events during the festival.

Program:

18. October

10:00-10:45 Workshop; Amazing Creepy Houses with Meritxell Martí and Xavier Salomó, the authors of the books The Mysterious and Surprising House of my Grandpa, Grandma’s fun and scary house, A Terrific Gift and A Terrific House. The workshop is for children and will be in Elissa Auditorium. The event will be in english.

11:00-11:45 A guided exhibition tour of Pippi, democracy and children’s voices! in the children’s library. The guide is for all ages and will be lead by Ylva, who works in the Nordic House.
The guide talks English, Icelandic and Swedish.

12:00-12:45 Workshop; The Bolds with Julian Clary & David Roberts, the authors of the books about the Bold family. The workshop is for mid-age children and will be in Elissa Auditorium. The event will be in english. 

13:00-13:45 Let’s create a class! Idea making and drawing workshop. 
The authors of the My Class books, Yrsa Þöll and Iðunn Arna, will share their experience and help you create different characters who are in a class together and lay the foundation for your own stories.
The workshop will take place in the children’s library. The event is in Icelandic.

13:00-13:30 Interview with Martin Widmark.
Martin
the author and Æsa Guðrún Bjarnadóttir translator, of the book series Lalla and Mæja’s Detective Agency – will have a workshop for middle age children.
The event will be held in Elissa Auditorium and will be held both in Icelandic and English. 

14:00-14:45 BAR(N)-SVAR
All age event in Children’s library – quiz/gameshow to create stories – Ingibjörg Ösp Óttarsdóttir & Gunnar Helgason. This event is in Icelandic.

15:00-15:45 Illustrator Elías Rúni and the author Bjarni Fritzson will have an event for mid-age children. The event will be in the Children’s library and will be in Icelandic.
