Lunch Meeting: Building for People
15:00-16:30
Nearly all of our time is spent indoors or close to buildings, making them an essential part of our everyday lives. Recently, the impact of the built environment on our health has gained increased attention, and questions about how we can improve buildings to support people’s physical and mental well-being have been widely discussed in Iceland. At the same time, we are also striving to reduce the environmental impact of buildings.
These questions and more will be explored at an event hosted by Grænni byggð, the Sustainability Institute of the University of Iceland, and the Nordic house, taking place at the Nordic house on Thursday, 22 January, from 15:00 to 16:30.
The event will begin with an introduction to the European initiative New European bauhaus, which aims to integrate environmental sustainability with the well-being of users of the built environment, while also addressing some of the key challenges we face in Iceland.
This will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on the cultural, social, and environmental dimensions of the built environment, and how these perspectives can be brought together.
Registration for the in-person event at the Nordic house is required and will close once capacity is reached so first come, first served. Registration is available here:

The event will also be live-streamed, and no registration is required to follow the stream.
