Introducing Mýrin, an international children’s and youth literature festival;

Lost in the Moorland!

Is children’s literature lost or are they the guiding light of a changing world? Eighteen foreign and domestic illustrators and experts in children’s literature take part in a three day program.

Free entry to all the events during the festival.

Program:

Seminars, lectures and panel discussions are in English, except for one in Swedish and English.

9:30-9:45 Opening – Welcome speach by Margrét Tryggvadóttur (ÍS).

9:45-10:30 Seminar; Lost children’s books with  Åse Kristine Tveit (NO).

10:30 – 11:00 Coffee break

11:00 – 11:45 Panel discussions; Lost – Found. Arndís Þórarinsdóttir (ÍS) , Bjarni Fritzson (ÍS), and Rakel Helmsdal (FÆR) The moderator is Giti Chandra (ÍS).

11:45 – 12:30 Lunch break

12:30 – 13:15 Pippi and democracy. Roland Paulsen (SV) og Åse Kristine Tveit (NO). Pippi as anarchistic role model/educator and Socratic perspectives. 

13:15 – 13:20 Short break

13:20 – 14:20 Panel discussions with illustrators; Lost in a world of images. Elías Rúni (ÍS), François Roca (FR), and Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir (ÍS). The moderator is Sólveig Ásta (ÍS).

14:20 – 14:30 Coffee break 

14:30 – 15:30 PARALLEL WORKSHOPS
Writing mysteries for children with Martin Widmark (SE) in Swedish with English translations as needed
