The soprano Auður Gunnarsdóttir and pianist Anna Guðný Guðmundsdóttir bring us Sieben Frühe Lieder by Alban Berg, songs by Kurt Weill and arias by Leonard Bernstein, from his one act opera Trouble in Tahiti. Berg´s music is carried by the vivacity of youth, Kurt Weill strikes his own direct and almost confrontational chord and Bernstein entices with realism and romance, both earnest and playful.

Auður Gunnarsdóttir studied in Reykjavík and Stuttgart. She was a member of the ensemble of the opera of Würzburg for many years and also performed in the opera houses in Mannheim, Heidelberg, Bielefeld and Hanover. She has sung numerous Lied recitals in Iceland and abroad, recorded CDs with Icelandic and international repertoire and performed with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. Her roles with the Icelandic Opera include Mimi in La Bohème, Pamina and 1. Dame in the Magic Flute, Countess in Le nozzle di Figaro, Satuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana and Elle in La voix humaine by Poulenc, for which she received a nomination for the Icelandic Music Award as singer of the year.

Anna Guðný Guðmundsdóttir studied at The College of Music in Reykjavík and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with an emphasis on accompaniment and chamber music. She has been performing in Iceland for a quarter of a century and has a unique standing among Icelandic musicians. Accompanying singers, performing as a soloist, in recitals and with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and especially as an interpreter of twentieth century and contemporary music. She has played with The Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra for a number of years, travelled with them extensively and recorded CDs with them.
