INTO THE WIND! CHILDREN´S BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS FROM THE NORDIC COUNTRIES

Into the Wind! is a deliberately diverse exhibition – in reference to the nature of northern Europe with its many contrasts and the region’s deeply anchored visual narrative art, as well as to an unwavering Nordic position: children and young people deserve respect. Nordic literature and illustration inspires children to think for themselves and to develop their imagination, and encourages them to be brave, free and wild in their thoughts and feelings – just like the wind.

Seventeen illustrators from Åland, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Sápmi present their work with the theme Into the Wind! –their work’s imagery sits between great tradition, outstanding technical realization, and striking high artistic expression.

In the early summer of 2016, the Berlin based association kulturkind held the first Into the Wind! Nordic Children’s and Young People’s Literature Days in Berlin. In connection to the festival, kulturkind organized an exhibition of children’s book illustrations, together with The Nordic House Reykjavik.

An exhibition by kulturkind and The Nordic House
