14:00-17:00 – Christmas sweater workshop with Ýrúrarí
The Christmas swap market:
What you no longer need could be someone else’s treasure – and vice versa! Bring books, toys, cards and swap them for something else. A great opportunity to find eco-friendly Christmas gifts that you can put under the tree with a clear conscience.
We kindly ask that participants to only bring items that are in good, usable condition.
The swap market categories are:
• Toys
• Thrift and Knitwear
• Christmas Decorations/Christmas Items
• Books and Cards
• Household Items
Textile Bar:
You can now shop for recycled yarn at Textíl Barnum! They specialize in giving previously loved textiles a new life. They recycle, redesign, and make the textiles more attractive and accessible.
Looking forward to seeing you at Textíl Barnum!

Christmas Sweater Workshop with Ýrúrarí:
A family-friendly workshop where sweaters get a new look in a Christmas theme for December.
The workshop is based on the creative clothing repair workshops of textile designer Ýrúrarí, where clothes get a new life and look, with very simple and accessible methods.
Participants bring their own sweater, or knitted garment, that they want to change and if any particularly Christmassy ideas have arisen for the workshop, such as using small Christmas series or an old Christmas wreath from home from storage, then you are welcome to bring them!
The workshop will offer various materials and tools that can be worked with in simple and decorative textile methods that are suitable for complete beginners as well as advanced ones. There will also be materials and solutions available to participate in the workshop without bringing a sweater or garment, as there are many things that can be prepared to be temporarily attached to garments just for Christmas.
Children under 12 years of age are expected to be accompanied by an adult.

Ýrúrarí’s creative clothing repair workshop has traveled widely, and has, for example, taken place at Tivoli in Copenhagen, the Textile Art Center in New York, at Helsinki Fashion Week and at the MAK Museum in Vienna. Participants are therefore also free to make clothing repairs that are not Christmas-themed and work all year round, but similar methods are used in the Christmas sweater workshop. The workshop was developed by textile designer Ýr Jóhannsdóttir (Ýrúrarí) at the Icelandic Design Museum as her final project in the Department of Art Education at the LHÍ, where the goal was to design an accessible clothing repair workshop where creative thinking and flow rule the day. Ýrúrarí is known for her recycling projects with used, unsaleable sweaters, which she gives new life and personality to using a variety of craft methods.

We look forward to seeing you and would also like to point out that Plantan bistro will have a special Christmas menu and Christmas drinks available.
