Experience the Danish poet Søren R. Fauth
19:00
Experience the Danish poet Søren R. Fauth in conversation with Professor Gísli Magnússon Søren R.
Fauth (born 1971) is a Danish poet, translator, researcher and dramaturgist, who received Jan Sonnergaards Mindedelegat in 2021, and Jacob- und Wilhelm-Grimm-Preis in 2023 for his work in literature and translation. The conversation will focus on his lyrical authorship, which is composed of a total of 8 books of poetry, including four long form prosaic lyrics positioned between the clear narrative of a novel and the condensed form of poetry. The texts stand out through their almost devilish drive and energy. The overarching themes of the authorship are anxiety, loneliness, love, hate, anger and reconciliation. The poetic narrator in Moloch. En fortælling om mit raseri (Moloch. A story of my rage) takes us through infidelity, jealousy, despair and powerlessness. Despite the often-dark themes, which also characterize his two latest publications, En rejse til mørkets begyndelse (A journey to the beginning of darkness) from 2022 and Dagene, drømmene (The days, the dreams) from 2023, the authorship is permeated by irony and an at times freeing sense of humor. The conversation, which will be held in Danish, is accompanied by readings from selected parts of the authorship.
