60 years anniversary of the signing of the Rome Treaties
16:00
The EU Delegation to Iceland invites to a celebration at The Nordic House May 5th at 16:00.
In 2017 we celebrate the 60 years anniversary of the signing of the Rome Treaties. This was one of the first steps towards real unity in Europe, deeply wounded after WW2. The Rome Treaties, and their successors, have since then profoundly affected our daily lives through the EU and through the EEA Agreement.
We would like to celebrate not only this prosperous past but our future cooperation and solidarity, built on these strong foundations. President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson will honour us by reflecting upon this with us at a public event in the Nordic House on Friday 5 May at 16:00.
The event is open to all and the Ambassador of the European Union to Iceland, Matthias Brinkmann, invites you to come and enjoy some light refreshments with us.
The President’s speech will be in Icelandic but a summary in English will be available.
