From 12 o clock, we will serve a birthday cake, coffee and juice. At the library, you can enjoy a small exhibition presenting images, letters and more from 50 years of the library’s service. All guest (living in Iceland) can geta a new or renew their library card free of charge. In front of the house, we will have to bouncy castles (if weather permits). The workshop will be held in the Children’s library. Guest are welcome to share a drawing with The Nordic House and be included in a 50-year anniversary collage, which we will exhibit at the library until 23rd of September (The West Nordic day).
Elín Harpa – Picnic Concert
Elín Harpa is an Icelandic musician and singer who recently released her first single, Rún, and she plans to release an EP later this year. Despite her young age, Elín has long worked in music, and she started her career after taking part in The Voice Iceland. In recent years, Elín Harpa has worked with the Icelandic band Bang Gang and toured Asia with them. Her music can be categorized as a kind of electropop, where an experimental sound world is mixed with gripping melodies.
The magician Jón Víðis Jakobsson
Jón Víðis Jakobsson has worked as a magician for nearly a lifetime. Come by and see him perform his magic show during his two performances in the great hall.
Face painting by Ingunn Þorkelsdóttir
From 13:00 until 15:00 the visiting children will get an opportunity to be decorated with face paint, from the artist Ingunn Þorkelsdóttir. Ingunn and her co-workers only use materials from recognized brands, such as Snazaroo, Grimas, Paradise, Wolf Brothers and so on.
Read aloud
At 12:00 we will read the children’s book. “Nei! sagði litla skrímslið”. This publication is part of a nordic collaboration work between three Nordic authors: Áslaugar Jónsdóttur, Kalle Güettler og Rakel Helmsdal. We read the book first in Icelandic, and then in Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish and Faroese.
