The Nordic House invites architects, designers, artists, and other creative practitioners to submit proposals for projects and events as part of DesignMarch 2027.
Designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, the Nordic House is an architectural landmark known for its human-centered design, thoughtful use of natural materials and light, human scale and proportions, and attention to detail in its design as a total work of art. All factors that are important for creating a welcoming environment.
Inspired by INSIGHT / INNSÝN, the theme of DesignMarch 2027, we invite proposals exploring how the built environment shapes our wellbeing, everyday lives, and sense of belonging. What makes a space feel welcoming and meaningful? And what can we learn from the ideas, materials, and processes behind the spaces we create?
We welcome perspectives from architecture, design, urban planning, landscape architecture, and art, in the form of small-scale exhibitions, installations, talks, workshops, and experimental projects.
Projects may take place once, across multiple sessions, or throughout the festival.
Please submit:
- A brief description of your concept and its connection to the open call.
- Information about the applicant or team.
- Proposed format, scope, and duration.
- Supporting visuals or sketches, if relevant.
- Spatial and technical requirements, if applicable.
