Mýrin is an international children’s literature festival held every two years, operating since 2001. The festival is hosted at the Nordic House in Reykjavík and lasts for several days in the autumn.
The collaboration behind Mýrin consists of the following institutions and organizations: IBBY Iceland, SÍUNG (The Association of Children’s and Young Adult Authors in Iceland), The Writers’ Union of Iceland, The University of Iceland, The Reykjavík City Library, and The Nordic House. The festival draws its name from the Vatnsmýri moorland, and each year’s chosen theme relates to it. Examples include Cat in the Moorland (2001), Ghosts in the Moorland (2008), Food in the Moorland (2012), Peacock in the Moorland (2014), and Together in the Moorland (2021).
