JOHN AJVIDE LINDQVIST (1968) is a Swedish writer, most known for his horror novels. He made his debut in 2004 with the vampire novel Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In). The novel, set in a Stockholm suburb, tells the story of lonely and heavily bullied Oskar and his friendship with the new and very odd girl Eli – who later turns out to be a vampire. The book has been translated into about thirty languages and turned into a film. Last spring, the theatre play with the same name had its premiere at the National Theatre of Iceland. John Ajvide Lindqvist has written several novels – mainly within the horror genre – as well as screenplays for films and TV series. His latest novel, from 2015, is called Rörelsen, den andra platsen and was nominated for the August Prize in the category Fiction in 2015. In this novel, Lindqvist examines the boundaries between that which is true or false, real or supernatural.
