Exhibition opening at Nauthólsvík beach / June 18th 15:00 / Free and open for all
A warm welcome to exhibition opening at Nauthólsvík beach of the Norwegian artist Torild Malmedal’s exhibition Capture the Blue – an exhibition containing sculptures of marble and glass which from June 18th – August 16th will exhibit at Nauthólsvík beach.
The outdoor opening contains several elements which together will add magic to the event: The official opening at 15.00 is by the Norwegian ambassador Cecilie Landsverk. Afterwards you will experience music by Björg Brjánsdóttir, a poem by the Norwegian-Icelandic writer Knut Ødegaard and a dance performance by dancers from Reykjavik with music composed especially for the exhibition by Jan Erik Syversen aka Zoundart. Artist Torild Malmedal will also be present at the opening.
The exhibition consists of nine monumental sculptures in marble and class, all handmade, three meters high and in abstract shapes inspired by exceptional elements from the Nordic nature like icebergs and northern lights. The sculptures express both the might and beauty of nature, but also the vulnerability in a world where the icebergs are melting and nature changes in front of our eyes. Torild Malmedal has been exhibiting Capture the Blue in selected places like Svalbard, Oppdal and Trondheim on a journey from north to south all the way to Antarctica in in 2020.
Welcome to enjoy the sculptures on their visit in Iceland!
