The whole family is welcome to a Swedish and Icelandic story hour
10:30-11:30
The reading takes place in the Children´s library of the Nordic house and the picture books chosen, are all connected to the topic of the current exhibition The North.
The North is an exhibition that invites visitors into a creative and imaginative space inspired by northern nature, glaciers, and fairytale worlds. The North opens at the same time as the art exhibition Ripples: Shifting Realities in the Arctic, in the Hvelfing exhibition space, and the artists’ works can also be found on the walls in the children’s exhibition.
Guests who don´t speak the languages are welcome to join and follow the story through pictures to practice image reading. After the reading visitors are encouraged to enjoy their time and take part in interactive games and crafts, in relation to the exhibition. An ice cap and glacier atmosphere shapes the space and encourages guests to experience the north with all their senses: to play, imagine, create, and connect with both nature and art on their own terms. You can ask at the library desk or Hvelfing desk – if you need more craft materials or have any questions regarding the exhibition or the activities.
Occasionally books from the The Bookworm, a Nordic database of educational materials, will be read. The Bookworm is a free database with pedagogical material related to books nominated for The Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize. The database is free and accessible to everyone in all Nordic languages at bokslukaren.org. You can learn more about The Bookworm and dive into copies of the books, in The Bookworm corner of the library.
