Let’s create new Icelandic words!

What words do you feel are missing from the Icelandic language to describe our lived experiences? Do you wish you could express something but don’t know what word to use? As society evolves, we need new words to describe it. We invite you into a creative word-shop where we will brainstorm what words we wish we had to talk about the things we want to talk about!

All ages and languages are welcome to join us. While the words we will be creating will be Icelandic words, we welcome all languages into the discussion and look forward to hearing different language perspectives!

Love Speech is a project from the Reykjavik City Library that emphasizes lived realities, emotional literacy and ownership of the Icelandic language. People are encouraged to create new words for the Icelandic language to add to a unique co-create dictionary where all the words are collected.
