Artivism Gathering at the Nordic House

In collaboration with the Nordic House, Átak, and Art Without Borders, Listvinnslan invites Artivists in Iceland to a creative gathering at the Nordic House.

We will engage in conversations about art and activism while working on our own projects. Participants are welcome to bring their own materials, but there will also be supplies available on-site, including paints, paper, yarn, and more.

Alongside the event, we will compile a list of artists, crafters, and creators who use their work as a form of activism.

What?

A workshop and discussion on art and activism.

Where?

The Nordic House, Sæmundargata 11, 102 Reykjavík.

When?

March 1st, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Icelandic, English, and Icelandic Sign Language.

Accessibility:

The Nordic House is largely wheelchair accessible. A ramp leads up to the entrance, and an elevator provides access to the exhibition space, Hvelfing. The children’s library is accessible via Hvelfing for wheelchair users. The event space, Elissa, is fully accessible.

Accessible restrooms are available on the main floor, and all restrooms in the building are gender-neutral.

A sensory-friendly space will be available during the event, located near the venue and clearly marked. puplictransportation – Bus 15 (stop: Íslensk erfðagreining). -Buses 1, 3, and 6 (stop: Háskóli Íslands).

This event is part of Uppskera, a cultural festival taking place in Reykjavík from February 8 to March 8, 2025.


Uppskera – Cultural Festival for Disabled People 2025

The festival celebrates the 20th anniversary of Disability Studies at the University of Iceland. Its aim is to highlight the contributions of scholars, disability organizations, and disabled artists to Icelandic culture.

The festival features two key events:

  • February 21: A conference at the University of Iceland.
  • February 22: A cultural festival at Harpa.

Additionally, various events will be held across Reykjavík, including exhibitions, film screenings, literary evenings, performances, poetry readings, workshops, and museum events.

The program will be available in easy-to-read format, and all events will have sign language interpretation. In Harpa, live captioning in English and audio descriptions in both Icelandic and English will be provided.

The festival is free and open to everyone.
