Wednesday mornings: Music Moment with violinist and music teacher Natalia!
10:30
Music Moment for Babies and Toddlers is a 30-40 minute activity aimed for children ages 0 to 3 years old and their caregivers.
Inspired by Edwin Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, this project is conceived as a series of participatory concerts without words, so it is open to families of any linguistic background. Natalia uses gestural cues and sings with neutral syllables, inviting all participants to make and enjoy the music together.
Each session begins with Natalia briefly explaining what will take place and what is expected of the parents (in English). After the activity, Natalia invites
parents to an open conversation and answers questions. The conversation can take place in English, Spanish, Italian, or beginner Icelandic. You can read more about Natalia´s work at: www.nataliaduarte.net.
This event is a part of Family Wednesdays – where every Wednesday morning we offer something extra for parents on parental leave and their babies. Most days that means extra sensory toys available, but some mornings we invite teachers for music moments or mini lectures in the children´s library. Plantan Bistró offers special offers on those mornings for the youngest guests and you can take coffee and treats down to the children´s library.
Next wednesday 25th of February: A short Lecture on Harmful Substances in Children’s Environment, presented by the Executive Director of the Nordic Swan in Iceland. The event will take place in the children’s library at the Nordic House, and guests are welcome to bring their children. The event will be held in Icelandic.
ACCESSIBILITY: The Children’s Library is accessible for wheelchairs through the exhibition hall Hvelfing. Library staff can give guidance. Restrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender-neutral. This event takes place in English, Italian and Spanish.
