In 2014 she gave an acclaimed performance of the role of Elisabetta in the Icelandic Opera\u00b4s production of\u00a0 Verdi\u00b4s Don Carlo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gu\u00f0r\u00fan Dal\u00eda Sal\u00f3monsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong> studied in Reykjavik and Stuttgart. She performs as a soloist, chambermusician and accompanies singers regularly.<\/p>\n<p>Helga R\u00f3s and Gu\u00f0r\u00fan have collaborated since their student days and in 2009 they released a CD with songs by J\u00f3runn Vi\u00f0ar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Viktor Ullmann was born in Poland but his family moved to Austria, where Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg became his teacher and later introduced him to Alexander Zemlinsky. Ullmann was an excellent pianist but was most prominent as a conductor. He was taken to Theresienstadt in September 1942 and died in Auschwitz in 1944. He composed many of his works in captivity, among others the opera \u201cDer Kaiser von Atlantis\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg is arguably one of the most significant composers of the Twentieth century. Initially influenced by Brahms and Wagner, much like his only teacher, Alexander Zemlinsky, but he later revolutionised music in the western world with the development of the twelve-tone technique.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander von Zemlinsky, connected to Sch\u00f6nberg through friendship and as his broter in law, was a successful conductor as well as composer and teacher.\u00a0 At the beginning of the Second World War he moved to the United States where he continued his career until his death in 1942.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>21 March at 8 pm \u00a0\u201cLive now, live in eternity\u201d Helga R\u00f3s Indri\u00f0ad\u00f3ttir and Gu\u00f0r\u00fan Dal\u00eda Sal\u00f3monsd\u00f3ttir perform songs by Victor Ullmann and the composers who most influenced him, Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg and Alexander Zemlinsky.
