For Pikknikk 2026, Timjune presents a live iteration of his ongoing project, Free as Birds<\/i>. Tracing the migratory paths of birds, the work establishes a direct dialogue between artificial intelligence and the human voice. Traditional bird songs are translated into speculative “bird languages,” then reinterpreted through diverse vocal practices \u2013 including Nordic kulning, Mongolian long song, Cretan rizitika, and Corsican polyphony \u2013\u00a0performed alongside local choirs from varied communities.<\/p>\n
The resulting performance merges environmental soundscapes, AI-generated elements, and human choirs into a hybrid auditory experience. In a site-specific twist at the Nordic House’s greenhouse, the audience is invited to join the bird song choir, becoming active participants in this convergence of nature, technology, and sound.<\/p>\n
