Welcome to an exhibition of works by children from Reykjav\u00edk’s primary schools.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The exhibition Inspired by the North will feature textile works, collages, video works and paintings by students from Landakotssk\u00f3li, Melask\u00f3li and Hagask\u00f3li. The works are all inspired by the exhibition Ripples: Shifting Realities in the Arctic, currently on display at the Nordic House. The works are made under the guidance of artists as well as art and craft teachers from the schools. The exhibition will be in the lobby at the main entrance and in the children librarie of the Nordic House during the festival and is open during the building’s opening hours from 10 am to 5 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

School groups are invited to participate<\/b>\u00a0in creative and interdisciplinary workshops during the Children’s Culture Festival, where they will get to know the exhibition\u00a0Ripples: transformation in the Arctic.<\/i>\u00a0The exhibition brings together artists and scientists who share a common interest in investigating the profound environmental, cultural and sensory transformations currently taking place in the Arctic. The exhibition examines, among other things, the impact of climate change on snow, ice and glacial landscapes and encourages visitors to consider the human relationship with nature and the cultural significance of the North.<\/p>\n

In the workshops, children get to work with the ideas of the exhibition in their own way, through art creation, conversation and participation.<\/p>\n

The emphasis is on perception, imagination and collaboration, as children explore:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Snow, ice, water and landscapes as living phenomena<\/p>\n

\u2022 How changes in nature affect people, communities and culture<\/p>\n

\u2022 The concept of ripples \u2013 how our actions can have an impact far beyond our own world<\/p>\n
