This helps them to become more tolerant of cold temperatures. Most trees lose their leaves but trees with needles-evergreen trees or Christmas trees, keep their needles and can actually photosynthesize during the winter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this collage workshop guests are encouraged to use available material to make a <strong>unique winter tree<\/strong>. It is possible for those who need a holiday card to put their collage tree on a folded paper to create a one of a kind card for a loved one. Materials and instructions in different languages will be available and teachers are on site to assist. The workshop takes place in Icelandic, French and English. It is for free, and everyone is welcome!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshop takes place in the Children\u00b4s library where the exhibition \u201c<em>The Tree<\/em>\u201d takes place. It explores the concept of trees in children\u2019s books, featuring illustrations from Nordic picture books. It promotes image reading -beyond languages and encourages guests to read books from the images. The books are part of The Bookworm, a Nordic database of educational materials related to books nominated for The Nordic Council Children and Young People\u2019s Literature Prize. The database is free and accessible to everyone in all Nordic languages at <a href=\"https:\/\/bokslukaren.org\/da\/\">bokslukaren.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teacher of the workshop is <strong>Estelle Pollaert<\/strong>, a French multidisciplinary artist based in Reykjavik, Iceland. Formerly trained as a product designer\/glass blower in France and in Finland she now focuses on illustration and building of papier m\u00e2ch\u00e9 sculptures. Her art is playful, colorful and makes us smile every day we encounter them. Estelle has experience teaching to Children\u2019s in English, French and Icelandic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Opening hours and accessibility<\/strong>: <em>The Children\u2019s Library is open for all. Accessible for wheelchair users via the elevator and through Hvelfing exhibition space. Accessible restrooms and a restroom for families with babies is on the main floor. Opening hours are TUE-SUN 10 am-17 pm.
