Mii Leat \/\/ Mii G\u00e1vdnot is an audio visual installation based around a visual dance performance filmed in the s\u00e1mi region and outskirt landscapes of Eastern Finnmark in the North of Norway. In the Greenhouse we will see the installation in a performance format. The performance tells the story of being the minorities within the minorities, in this case we showcase the minority identities: LGBTQ+ and the people of s\u00e1pmi. The S\u00e1mi people are the only indigenous people of the
\nEuropean Union. The S\u00e1mi inhabit the region of \u201cS\u00e1pmi\u201d – which today encompasses large northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and of the Murmansk Oblast, Russia.<\/p>\n
As well as telling the story of minorities within minorities the creators of this installation\/performance wish to celebrate the resilience and resourcefulness of indigenous people, and raise awareness around their relationship with nature and indigenous knowledge.<\/p>\n
