On Friday the 31st of May the Nordic House invites you to the third edition of P\u00d8LSE&POESI \u2013 an afternoon of poetry readings, good food and drinks in our pavilion and surrounding garden.<\/h2>\n

During P\u00d8LSE&POESI we serve free sausages, condiments and drinks from different Nordic countries, showcasing Nordic \u201csausage culture\u201d in its variety. There will also be gluten-free and vegetarian options.<\/h3>\n

Performing poets are:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

M. Seppola Simonsen (NO)<\/strong>
\nSeppola Simonsen is a Norwegian-Kven poet who debuted in 2022 with the book Hjerteskog – Sy\u0111\u00e4nmett\u00e4, <\/em>which received the Tarjei Vesaas\u2019 Award for best debut. In 2023, Simonsen’s second full-length work, Den tredje<\/em>, was published. Simonsen\u2019s poetry often deals with themes of place, nature, identity, belonging and language \u2013 or the lack thereof. Simonsen is also part of the artist group Jokiroikka<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Minik Hansen (GL)<\/strong>
\nHansen has been active on the Greenlandic slam poetry scene, and as a reader in various poetry events, for several years. He is also the lyricist for Koda award winning Greenlandic reggae band Sauwestari. Hansen\u2019s poetry frequently revolves around personal, political, social and environmental themes, combined with humor and linguistic play.<\/p>\n

\u00c1sta Fanney Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir (IS)<\/strong>
\n\u00c1sta Fanney is widely regarded as one of Iceland\u2019s most innovative contemporary poets and performers. In 2017 she was the recipient of the Lj\u00f3\u00f0stafur J\u00f3ns \u00far V\u00f6r poetry prize, and in 2021 she was nominated for the Bernard Heidsieck-Centre Pompidou International Prize for Literature. Her interdisciplinary poetry practice spans and combines music, performance, visual art and film. In 2019, she published her first collection of poetry, Eil\u00edf\u00f0arn\u00f3n, which has been called \u2018an instant classic of the Icelandic avant-garde\u2019.<\/p>\n

Beinir Bergsson (FO)<\/strong>
\nBergsson debuted in 2017 with Tann l\u00edtli drongurin og beinagrindin, which won the 2018 EBBA-vir\u00f0isl\u00f8nin, the annual literature prize of the Faroese Writers\u2019 Association. His second work, S\u00f3lgar\u00f0urin (2021) was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2022, and has been described as the first explicitly queer poetry collection of the Faroe Islands. Beinir\u2019s poetry frequently explores death, sex, nature, sensuality and family, in their various entanglements.<\/p>\n

P\u00d8LSE&POESI will start at 17:00 and the poetry readings start at 17:30. After the readings, there will be a moderated panel discussion with all the participating poets. The theme of the readings and panel discussion will be LANGUAGE AND ITS LIMITS. The readings will be in Norwegian, Greenlandic, Icelandic, Faroese, Danish and English, while the panel discussion will be in English.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participation as well as food and drinks is FREE for everybody. P\u00d8LSE&POESI is arranged in cooperation with the\u00a0Norwegian\u00a0embassy in Reykjav\u00edk,\u00a0The Greenlandic Consulate in Reykjav\u00edk, The Swedish embassy in Reykjav\u00edk, FarLit og GreenLit.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Access<\/strong> to the small Pavilion is not ideal for wheelchair users. There is a narrow pathway leading up to the pavilion, for a short part it is gravel. In front of the Pavilion there is grass, benches and tables. A ramp leads up to the Nordic House and on the first floor you will find a accessible restroom. All restrooms are gender neutral.
